SARAU I
"In the Middle"
Haus der Statistik im Alexanderplatz
19.07.2023
As the middle day of NIE Theater's Festival (2023), the first SARAU edition celebrated borders from the crossroads of the in-between: to be in the middle, in the melancholia of not knowing and the hope of yet dreaming.
Divided in four blocks, the event held an audience of 100+ people, and moved through poetry, music, cabaret performance, dance, multilingual games (Portuguese, Korean, Arabic, English, Spanish) and a spoken word opening session between English-Portuguese.

Opening: Marcelo Kuna & Andrew Clarke "Youkhali"

Spoken Word Session: Vanessa Neuber

SARAU II
"In what language to speak?"
Amphitheater am Viktoriapark
28.06.24
The second SARAU edition jumped from the melancholia of borders to the open of a summer evening: crossing Viktoriapark towards an amphitheater, the two hour event celebrated languages spoken through translation - even when confusion and a necessary "world-travelling" are yet to be achieved.
The three block event started with a Spoken Word session - a classic for SARAU - mixing Portuguese and English, later moving to a stage-reading of the migrant text "Each map a language, a rage", an English translation of an originally Portuguese-written essay.
The night had a most fierce closing with the USO crew, four migrant Brazilian women invested in dance, motion and sound.
